Actress and singer Selena Gomez announced her engagement to producer Benny Blanco Wednesday, December 11th, via an Instagram carousel with the caption “forever begins now”.

This carousel featured four photos: an intimate picnic proposal (with an exquisite selection of Taco Bell items), a joyful Gomez, a picture of the happy couple, and a close-up of her stunning engagement ring.

Gomez’s engagement ring is estimated to be worth $225,000 to $1 million by experts. While most consumers don’t have a six-figure budget, you can still rock a ring similar to the Rare Beauty founder through a few easy design choices for your engagement ring.

  • A Marquise Diamond

As we predicted previously, marquise diamonds are the upcoming ultimate ring trend for 2025. Gomez’s natural diamond is estimated to range from four to six carats. The average consumer can still rock a ring in a similar carat range by purchasing a lab grown marquise diamond, but with a more reasonable price point

Marquise cut stands out from traditionally round diamonds and the trendy oval and radiant cut, and are meant for those who want to make a statement with their jewelry and express their own style. When choosing a marquise diamond, one must remember to protect the football shaped stones two main points, whether it be through the rings prongs or in a bezel setting.

Celebrities who have rocked a marquise cut in the past include Victoria Beckham, Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, and Catherine Zeta Jones.

  • A Pavé Ring

Gomez’s engagement ring features a yellow gold pavé band, which perfectly contrasts the sparkling white marquise center. A pavé ring has small diamonds set along the band, adding extra sparkle without detracting from the gorgeous center stone.  Gomez’s ring is being reported as a fully pave, eternity band, meaning the diamonds surround the ring entirely.

It’s important when choosing a pavé ring to consider one’s own lifestyle and other factors, like whether they’re ready to remove the ring before physical activity or sleeping, as well as being able to gently clean the delicate setting. These factors are also important to consider with an eternity style band, as fully eternity styled bands aren’t able to be resized.

  • Staying True to Your Style

The ultimate way to rock your engagement ring like Selena Gomez is to stay true to your personal style. While marquise rings are currently trending, Gomez has sung about marquise diamonds in her hit song “Good For You”, comparing herself to the stunning diamond cut. Throughout history marquise diamonds have trended multiple times, from the diamond cuts origins in 18th century France to the mainstream popularity of the marquise in the late 1960s and early 1970s.

By staying true to your style when you customize your engagement ring, you can ensure your ring is just as bold and beautiful as your love story. Even when engagement ring trends come and go, Gomez’s ring will eternally represent her love story with Blanco.
